How to use recessed LED profiles to illuminate wardrobe closets

21 March 2025

Lighting wardrobe interiors with recessed LED profiles is an ideal solution for professionals in the furniture manufacturing industry, as it enhances both functionality and aesthetics.

Let’s explore the different installation options: vertical, horizontal, and opposite-face.

Vertical installation – position and benefits

Positioning. The recessed LED profiles should be installed on the sides of the wardrobe compartments, near the door, at a distance of approximately 25–50 mm, depending on the wardrobe type.

Practicality. In wardrobes with shelves, it is recommended to use LED profiles that can be flush-mounted. This positioning prevents the profile from protruding or interfering with shelf installation.

Lighting performance.Using recessed profiles with asymmetric light projection allows the light to illuminate the entire compartment. The vertical, front-facing position ensures the light isn’t blocked by stored items, resulting in uniform and effective illumination. APEX HI, FYNN HI, FYNN 89 HI, and DEA HI are excellent technical and practical solutions for this configuration.

Horizontal installation – position and benefits

Positioning. Recessed LED profiles can be installed beneath each shelf or inside the upper section of the wardrobe. Installing them just a few centimetres from the front edge of the shelf allows the light to effectively illuminate the entire compartment.

Direct lighting. This solution provides direct light on items placed on the lower shelf, improving visibility and making it easier to access stored objects.

Aesthetics and costs. While this setup delivers a more complete lighting effect, it may also be more expensive, as it requires a higher number of LED recessed profiles to illuminate every shelf. There are various product options available, such as LAB, FYNN 89, and BLADE IN.

Opposite-face installation – position and benefits

Positioning. This configuration involves installing two recessed profiles vertically along both sides of the wardrobe’s internal divider panel.

Slim LED profiles. For this type of installation, the divider should be at least 18 mm thick, and the LED profile should not exceed 7 mm in depth — ideal solutions include APEX H7, APEX 84, DEA, and ESA.

Uniform lighting. This configuration ensures balanced lighting on both sides of the divider, enhancing internal visibility and overall wardrobe aesthetics.

Using recessed LED profiles to illuminate wardrobes is an advanced solution for professionals in furniture manufacturing and interior design. Domus Line offers a wide range of LED profiles that combine advanced technology with refined design, meeting a variety of installation needs. By selecting the most suitable recessed profile for the specific application, you can achieve optimal lighting that highlights your project and enhances daily functionality for the end user.
